Step 1: How To Set Up SMS in Twilio
This step-by-step guide will show you how to set up SMS messaging in Lime Funnels. Once you're done with these steps, you’ll be ready to connect Twilio to your Lime account and start sending and receiving messages right from your Lime dashboard. Let’s get started!
Step 1: Create Your Twilio Account
To get started, you’ll need to set up a Twilio account if you don’t already have one. Here’s how:
- Go to Twilio’s Sign-Up Page.
- Fill in your business information and verify your email.
- Follow Twilio’s onboarding prompts to complete your profile.
Note: You’ll use your Twilio account to buy a phone number and manage your SMS activity. Twilio charges separately for messaging, so you’ll pay them directly for any SMS usage.
Step 2: Buy a Phone Number in Twilio
Now that your Twilio account is set up, you’ll need to purchase a dedicated phone number for sending and receiving SMS. Here’s what to do:
- Log in to your Twilio dashboard.
- In the sidebar, click Phone Numbers > Buy a Number
- Search for a number with SMS capabilities in your desired area code or country.
- Click Buy next to the number you want.
- Complete the purchase following Twilio’s prompts.
Tip: Choose a local number if you want your messages to look familiar to customers.
Important: Make sure the number you select is SMS-enabled (it will show an “SMS” icon in the search results).
To send messages to recipients in the United States (verified or unverified numbers), you must complete A2P 10DLC registration and upgrade your account.
Step 3: Get Your Twilio API Credentials
- In your Twilio dashboard, go to “Account Info” you’ll see your Account SID and your Auth Token.
- Copy both the Account SID and Auth Token (keep your Auth Token private).
